My Encounter With Noynoy Aquino

The election "carnival" has come to Davao City. A lot of Davawenyos are thirsty for these events and as candidates flashed their colorful banners, sounded their trompas, and waived their hands... The Carnival is set..!

I heard the news of the visit of the Liberal Party standard bearer Noynoy Aquino, mar Roxas and the rest of their party. I was with my mom in a shopping mall when I texted a friend of the whereabouts of the motorcade. And to my surprise, people inside the mall is also asking the same question to their friends... From that I decided to convince mom to join me and watch the motorcade.

We went to R. Castillo St. and waited for the motorcade to pass. So far it was the longest motorcade I had ever witnessed. on the streets were people wearing yellow shirts, yellow ribbons, yellow flaglets, and of course names of Noynoy and Mar All The Way!
the spirit of hope was there within us. Though I only saw videos and images of EDSA People

Power 1 I knew right there and then, that the spirit of EDSA has come to Davao City. Cries of hope were shouted by the people on the street as they waited for the presidentiable to arrive.
Then a lot of cars joining the motorcade, more than 200 of them, were buzzing the horns are they continue to show their support by waving the Laban sign. People were on top of the Agdao Fly Over were throwing yellow confetti and waving the banners of Noynoy Aquino.

At last after an hour of waiting, I received a text message saying that the convoy is only a kilometer away. Then senatoriables arrived, as people tried to stop their truck just to catch a glimpse and to shake the hands of these candidates... and yes, I was one of them.

I also saw some of my doctor friends who joined the motorcade. They were all wearing their own shades of yellow. I showed them the Laban Sign and with my banner I shouted Noynoy! They opened their windows and waived the ir hands on me...

Finally the moment has come, the person most awaited by the people passed through our way... People of all classes dashed through the streets and waived their hands to Sen. Noynoy Aquino and Sen. Mar Roxas. The voice of our Mayor Duterte endorsing the Liberal party was a sure sign that Davao City has become a Noynoy Country.

Immediately, I joined the crowd in waiving their hands and giving the Laban sign. I was left all alone by the crowd moving towards the convoy. Little did they know, that my place on that street was an opportunity for me to personally greet Noynoy and shake his hands. Overwhelmed by his presence, and the spirit of the people, I was almost (I say almost) moved into tears when I saw him holding a baller band (the one worn in the arms) as his truck approached my post. I jumped for joy, as I shouted Noynoy and raised my banner high enough for him to notice me. And because I was alone in that area, he noticed me.

Eye to eye we met, and he smiled at me... He handed over his baller band and I immediately accepted it... I was so happy when he personally gave me that baller band. And now I am wearing it with full of hope and faith, that someday our nation will achieve the freedom that we only thought is in our dreams.

"Within this baller band lies the story of my hopes and aspirations for the Filipino people. And I will never stop sharing this story to the people I know, and convince them to vote Noynoy Aquino for our President.

  2. Kudos to you! And shame on this mariacaridad, who as as clueless as her "green" candidate. She should speak for herself and not impose her will on others. Utak Gloria Ampatuwad itong bobo na ito!

  3. @mariacaridad,

The young man has great dreams and is full of hope and optimism because he sees what you cannot seem to see with your pessimistic view and uninformed assumptions.

  4. @Daniel, I'm glad to know that even outside Metro Manila, the spirit of EDSA does permeate through the souls of Filipinos. Like you, we also hope that a Noynoy presidency will bring about the change needed to bring our country to a higher level of true development. Our work isn't done, let's work even harder to ensure a victory for Filipinos come May 10!

@mariacaridad, I find it hilarious that you comment so emphatically, considering that your Blogger account is only as old as Gibo's campaign and you have no published blog. In any event, feel free to read the facts about Noynoy here: http://www.truthaboutnoynoy.com/

And: shameless blog post! Read more thoughts on the upcoming elections in my blog >> http://theartofhoping.blogspot.com/ Thanks!

  7. You were very fortunate to have even a fleeting moment with our future President. I don't buy the "Noynoy is a useless moron" argument. Seems to me it is black propaganda being spread by his opponents, the ultimate backfire being that psychological profile hoax purportedly by Ateneo, which was immediately denounced by Ateneo itself!

Anyway, my vote is for Noynoy. A wolf in sheep's clothing... as he should be if he wants to win the Presidency.

  8. mariacardiad: leadership does not necessarily entails good ways of speaking, always talk in congress, and no codigo in any speech.
Leadership is not left all by the hand of the leasder. Your perception is that of a follower, an audience. A good quality of leaders must have the heart and support of his people, no matter how he says or whether he is bringing a codigo or not. Such a pity that Filipinos never learn from "always talk" people who says a lot but seldom do a lot.

  10. ... emotions is not the reason why u are carried away in this case Maria Caridad .. its the hope that u see in people .the thirst of each of the Pinoys who want for change ..the clamor for an honest governance. .its a pity that u get this bitter feeling for those who can write and enunciate so very well themselves and sharing it to the world .. this is actually my first time to write on this blog, becoz for years of being in the outside corporate world so to speak, all that i have focused on was to get my family : foods on the table, good education for the nephews and nieces as these are not possible if I work in the Philippines .. .. but reading ur article Daniel, it gave me pep once more to write .. being near Davao, am moved on the way things are happening there since Duterte took leadership ... and for that matter now that it became a Yellow country as they say ..it moves me a lot better ...because being an OFW for so many years ..it has really been a pain in the heart of just being an observer, that being said though does not mean that we dont feel any for what is happening back home ...everytime i remit my earnings to the Phils ... i know it helps our economy but sad to say .. the help goes more to the pockets of the corrupt leaders ... how was it too painful seeing the Maguindanao Massacre and under the leadership of Gibo T, these Amputaans family were given all the government support & funds to kill anyone who goes against their will ...and up till now ..even when Gibo was Secretary of Defense ..nothing concrete has been done .. shame ..shame for him to become a President .. and what about Villaroyo ..well, he continues to amass all the big areas of lands in all provinces ..with the help of his being in the government, uses money to bribe people and so he can get first hands the africultural lands which are supposedly for the farmers ..need not i mention C-5 and the rest ... sad girl that ur eyes are closed to this ... again to u Daniel ... u have written a good article ..walking us through the avenue of hope ... thanks and God bless

  11. Our now-ailing country direly needs a new & fresh start to help us out of this abyss of wretchedness wrought out by our fake sitting president. But sadly, it seems PGMA is whiling her time & thinking of devious strategies to perpetuate herself in power & escape incarceration due to massive corruption in governance. While all presidentiables are promising the heavens just to be elected to the most coveted position of the land, Noynoy promises a graft & corruption-FREE government. This is basically the initial step for good governance. Alisin muna ang mga bulateng sumisira ng mga halaman para makapagtanim uli ng bagong binhi na magbibigay ng masaganang ani. This is what should first be instilled in the mind of a good leader, & once the "over-haul" is thru, then effective governance for peace & prosperity for the country follows. Noynoy-Mar is the answer. Let's move forward w/Noy-Mar.

  12. Villar has been using all his resources to get to the top. While it is true that he is a successful businessman, he cannot deny the fact that there really has been a secret covenant between him & PGMA alone. Don't u ever wonder why Lakas has no financial backing? But of course, it has been channeled by PGMA to NP. But becoz, nobody knows the deal between Villar-PGMA, this fake president has been announcing that Gibo is still her party's candidate, who was her erstwhile candidate before the survey ratings on Gibo simmered down her hopes. But wily as she is, she's on powerplay on Villar & Gibo, that whoever wins would send her dancing gleefully back to Malacanang. My countrymen, let's not give this little lady the chance to go back & give our country more misery. Let's vote Noynoy-Mar for a prosperous & peaceful country beyond June 20l0. They are OUR ONLY HOPE.

  14. apart from not voting for villar, let's also remember the names of the 12 agents of destruction who voted to exonerate him of all wrongdoing with the C5 fiasco. they have been revealed to not really mind the people's condition when they all absented themselves during that crucial time when a quorum was needed to vote on the content of Enrile's report on the committee of the whole. What have they got to lose by listening to the content of the report? apparently their own personal wealth as most of the people who voted for that exoneration are all now running under the villar ticket. let's not be swayed by 'image' as people can say a lot of things that can be debunked by documentary evidence.

  15. Let's not vote for someone who is a liar, someone who even faked his poverty and someone who used his position to enrich himself. How could this presidential candidate stop poverty when he himself is the reason why poor people lost their real estate properties in favor of his real estate companies. LET'S NOT BE FOOLED BY ALL THE LIES OF HIS PARTY.

LET'S VOTE FOR NOYNOY AQUINO ALL THE WAY...PRAYER CHANGES THINGS. LET'S PRAY FOR HIS VICTORY..

  16. Thank you so much for believing in what I believed in..! I know that with the providence of God and our unity and solidarity as a Filipino people, we will put Noynoy Aquino in that position. Not for their sake but for our country and our democracy!
